Durante un periodo de observación, registré en vídeo el crecimiento del Physarum Polycephalum. Este organismo se expande y reorganiza según su entorno, generando estructuras cambiantes sin dirección consciente. Su comportamiento sirvió como punto de partida para reflexionar sobre los procesos de adaptación y reorganización del cerebro humano.
La instalación se articula en dos fases interconectadas. En la primera, una proyección del physarum en el suelo responde al desplazamiento del espectador, generando un ejercicio de reorganización activa y aprendizaje táctil que refleja la adaptación corporal e inconsciente.
En la segunda fase, el recorrido conduce a un ecosistema digital autónomo que traduce visualmente la reorganización recién experimentada, mostrando cómo los procesos internos del cerebro continúan aunque la conciencia no los controle directamente.
El diseño sonoro acompaña toda la instalación, modulando y reaccionando a los estados perceptivos y corporales del espectador en la fase inicial, y manteniéndose autónomo en la segunda, reforzando la percepción del tiempo, la transformación y la reorganización.
During a period of observation, the growth of Physarum Polycephalum was recorded on video. This organism expands and reorganizes in response to its environment, forming constantly shifting structures without conscious intent. Its behavior became a conceptual idea through which to explore the processes of adaptation and neural reorganization in the human brain.
The installation unfolds in two interconnected phases. In the first, a projection of the physarum on the floor responds to the spectator’s movement, creating an active exercise of reorganization and tactile learning that reflects unconscious bodily adaptation. In the second phase, the experience leads to an autonomous digital ecosystem that visually interprets the reorganization just experienced, showing how the brain’s internal processes continue even when consciousness does not actively control them.
The sound design supports the entire installation, adapting to the spectator’s perceptual and bodily states during the first phase and functioning autonomously in the second. It acts as a continuous thread, reinforcing the perception of time, transformation, and reorganization throughout the experience.
